I was completely alone and loved it! The dry sauna, jacuzzi pools and heated lounge chairs are lovely and the relaxing music did the trick – I almost fell asleep.īy about 10:30 a.m., more women were starting to come in and get tours. One tip I can give anyone in Vegas is to schedule your treatment or visit the spa area early in the day. It’s a great way to pamper yourself on a budget (I did this once before while staying at the Aria and it was wonderfully relaxing). Anyone staying at the hotel can access this area (for a fee of course – I think $25). Once inside the spa, there are lovely dressing room areas, private showers, a wet eucalyptus sauna and a dry sauna, rainfall showers, two jacuzzi pools and two cold plunge pools. It is zen personified – gold and white accents and buddha statues – love, love, love! The moment you walk into the spa, you know you are in for something special. I figured that I would be tired from all the walking and shopping and ready for some pampering (I was right).

I decided to have my spa day on my last full day in Vegas. This trip was a great decision that I have fully enjoyed – and the spa was the hit of the trip for me. I wanted to stay at the Encore Hotel (always a dream), do all my Christmas shopping at my own pace (done!) and have a luxury spa experience that I usually wouldn’t spend so much on. This trip to Las Vegas was a decision to treat myself after a particularly busy time and my trip to Portugal fell through. That’s how I felt about my experience at the Encore Spa in Las Vegas. The Spa at Encore featured wonderful wet areas, a steam, sauna, heated tiled lounge chairs, numerous Jacuzzis, and a very lovely relaxation room with a magnificent selection of teas and water. It’s the most wonderful thing when something you are looking forward to lives up to your expectations. Lani was an extremely skilled therapist and I would highly recommend the treatment for anyone looking to have an over-the-top Las Vegas wellness experience.Ī final note: While treatments in Las Vegas are not inexpensive they really deliver true value when one allows enough time to take advantage of the spa facilities. Trust me, you don’t get a lot of natural sunlight in Vegas! The treatment ended with an application of coconut/macadamia body lotion followed by a final spray of Rosemary Eucalyptus to re-energize me.

I then showered in my treatment room’s private “garden shower, “ which featured a real skylight much to my amazement. After the massage and exfoliation, I received a divine scalp treatment again using hot coconut oil. This helped Lani reach under me, which was key to the long Lomi Lomi stokes. Warm coconut/macadamia oil was liberally applied while I lay atop a very soft, vinyl sheet. My treatment began with a spray of Lavendar Orange to relax me. Sometimes Lani would go back to front, sometimes front to back creating a sensation of waves up and down. The Nalu Ritual features long massage strokes that are supremely relaxing while also providing enough pressure that your aching muscles truly feel it. At least in this case, my senses were overloaded by the magnificent furnishings, lavish decor, soaring ceilings, signature aromatherapy, and most importantly, my wonderful treatment, the Nalu Ritual.Ĭreated by two therapists from Hawaii, Lani and Audrey, this 100-minute treatment combines their training in the two techniques of Lomi Lomi – the “Auntie Margaret” style originating in the Big Island and the “Temple style” which hails from Kauai. Run by the very capable Ella Stimpson, the spa is a sensory overload, as is so much of Vegas.

On a recent business trip, I had the pleasure of experiencing the magnificent Spa at Encore, sister property of the Wynn. However, you might be surprised to learn that there is a lot of wellness to be had in Las Vegas and you don’t have to look too hard to find it.

In fact, some may argue they are a complete contradiction. It’s not often “ wellness” and “Las Vegas” go hand-in-hand.
